Decoupage candles for the new year in different ways. Decoupage candles with your own hands Decoupage candles for the new year with your own hands

The same kind of decoupage, when you don’t have to get your hands dirty with paint, glue and wait until the varnish dries. What is Christmas without candles? And in general, candles in the interior are fashionable.
True, a candle can be “decouped” in the traditional way with glue and varnish, but we will talk about a simpler and rather interesting one. The only “but” in this matter is that it is slightly flammable, in the sense that if you can leave a child alone with PVA glue and paint after 3 years (he won’t eat glue with paint) and give him some freedom of creativity, then here you have to be there all the time and take over most of the process.
But quickly!
In principle, candles in their smooth, monophonic version are already beautiful and do not require any decoration. But sometimes our creative soul demands it. And then, in stores they sell already decorated candles too. And they are so beautiful - themed, in different styles. But somehow expensive. Here the contrast in price is even stronger than with Christmas decorations. A smooth candle is one price, but the same one, but with a bow and a bead, is twice as expensive. Does a bow really cost that much?
And when a picture is on a candle, it’s generally beautiful. And how do they do it? In principle, you can just wrap the candle beautiful picture, securing the whole thing with tape. If you do not touch and do not play football with her, she will stand and decorate the house. But you definitely won't make this as a gift. And you won’t shout to the guests “Oh, don’t touch it, it will fall apart!”. They also want to look at an interesting thing on the contrary.
So you need to attach a more reliable image.
Wax melts very easily and quickly hardens back. This is what everyone uses.
We will need a candle for decoration (light colors), a picture (a napkin or rice paper), a palette knife (rarely anyone has one at home), which will successfully replace a teaspoon, and another simple or even very old candle, like a source of fire. You can also over the stove, but not very convenient.

Why didn't we use thicker paper like a magazine cutout or a decoupage card? It is necessary that enough heat pass through the paper to melt the wax without stains and smudges. The thicker the paper, the more difficult it is. But by the way, that doesn't mean it's impossible. It's just a little more difficult for a beginner. Yeah, but a napkin is easier? That's where the "headache", we tried, we know. It sticks to the hands, tears, wrinkles - horror, horror. And on the candle just not “horror-horror”. This is where napkin pictures fit best.
We made three candles - two with rice paper (an old text and a bird), the second with pieces of napkin (leaves).
The principle is simple. First we fix our picture to the candle. If it is small, then you can simply hold it with your finger, if we wrap the whole candle, then it is enough to wrap it with a thread for the first time until the picture is seized with wax, and remove the thread as the work approaches it.
Then we heat our spoon on the candle and while it is hot we iron the paper on the candle so that the wax comes through. Gently and smoothly, without pressing too hard. And so step by step, making sure that there are no “dry” places and trying not to get out of the borders of the picture, so as not to create smudges.

And so on until the whole image is glued. The most main mistake The newcomer here is that he believes that the hotter the spoon, the better, which means that its convex side must be heated and it is for her to pass over the candle. It's logical! Yes, if not for one "but". The candle has the ability to smoke. And black soot will immediately ruin your work. And a spoon? But a spoon from your favorite service - no. It will be easy to wash it off. And the soot on the candle and the picture is unlikely to be removed. Therefore, everyone acts simply - we heat the spoon on one side (concave), stroke the other side (convex) and all the wisdom.
When the candle is ready, it should be polished, to hide the traces of the touch of the spoon. Although not required. To do this, gently rub with a soft cloth according to our picture. You can warm it up a little with a hair dryer or about 4 cm from the candle flame. But we are not zealous. It is better to under-dry than to erase the whole picture from the candle along with the wax.
Then, if desired, we additionally decorate and decorate - with a ribbon, beads, etc. You can attach to a bow temporarily, for example, an earring and fix the bow on a candle. After the holiday - disassemble this design.

A candle can be made purely thematic - that is, Christmas or Easter. Or universal, where the picture does not indicate any particular holiday, but simply suits the interior well. And due to a small removable part, we give a touch of the holiday to different days. For example, for New Year - a golden bow, for Easter - lace, and for Valentine's Day - scarlet.

But this is in the event that the candle is planned precisely as a decoration of the house, and not in order to burn it all on the festive table. Then we do thematic and do not regret anything. It will be interesting to look at a candle decorated with the same napkins as for serving. holiday table. For some reason, this simple technique always surprises guests.
And it is worth remembering that decoupage in the decoration of candles is not required at all. Sometimes just one bow will solve all the problems.

What else would the designers recommend? Yes, you would give simple tips, which are easy to think of even without them. It is unlikely that you will wear a polka-dot sweater with plaid trousers or put bright, colorful furniture in a room with bright and colorful wallpaper. The decor is the same. It always makes sense to leave some of the balls on the Christmas tree just smooth - without decor. And this rule applies to candles. No need to decorate everything! One decorated candle is enough for several plain ones.

It will look much more elegant than a picture and a bow on each candle. If you pay attention, one of the branches from the napkin has been transferred to a pebble stone from a Spanish beach. Looks very interesting with a candle. But here you have to take glue in your hands.
If the soul requires the creation of several "masterpieces" (and what we do ourselves is always a masterpiece in our eyes) - then two decorated candles of different sizes can make up a set, again in a company with plain ones. But these two candles should be in the same style, not necessarily in the same pattern, but the style should be common.
It's easy to say. The napkins are so beautiful! Here are deer, there are spruce branches, there are golden angels. If you do not have a candle shop and you do not cook as a gift for a different candle for all your friends, then somewhere you will have to restrain yourself and stop. In Spain, you can give yourself a little more freedom. Here in private houses there are many different rooms, in addition to the living room. Then we create in zones - these candles are in the living room, these are in the bedroom, these are on the terrace. Then it will certainly be possible to somehow sort your pictures into styles and zones.
If you are making a candle not as a gift, but for yourself, then you can give it an already “used look”, light it up and make special smudges of wax according to our picture. Or make such drops with another candle of a darker shade. Such a thing, for example, will fit well into the interior of a home library, where it seems that one of those whose books are on the shelves, with this candle, wrote his lines with a pen.

In general, sometimes only in a private house does it come to the embodiment of the plot that we usually see in the movies - many, many candles in the house. On the mantelpiece, on the coffee table, on the windows. And they are all on fire. Isn't it a Christmas story? In typical Russian apartments, it is sometimes difficult to arrange such beauty due to the lack of free surfaces.
When there are a lot of candles, they do not require candlesticks, except perhaps special trays or napkins.
When there is only one candle in the room (and this is most often the case in Moscow apartments), then it requires a candlestick. But here the same rule as in clothes. The more decorations on the candle itself, the more concise the candlestick should be. But for a smooth candle, you can already pick up something more ornate, although not at all necessary. Minimalism has never been bad. So it is better to put our decoupled candle on a flat simple candlestick or even a saucer, maybe in a wooden wreath, but not in a candlestick with beads and bows.

This is how it happens sometimes. First, decorate the candle. Then, in the same style, some kind of glass like this will be a candlestick under it, then we put it all together and are dejected. Each thing individually is beautiful, but together they look bad, there is too much of everything.
So do not get carried away with decor, even if you really like this business.
Candles in the house are very beautiful. Just don't leave them unattended. The decor does not greatly increase the risk of fire, because modern candles burn out as if from the inside, the edges remain intact, and there is too little paper to create a wick. But any candle cannot be left unchecked.
Do you have an old candle at home? Try melting the picture into it first. If you understand that you are succeeding and you liked this business, you can go to the store for a batch of candles.
What if the candles are dark? Then the traditional decoupage is a picture of thicker (not napkin) paper, soaking it and gluing it to glue. You have to get glue on your fingers.
If the candle is in the house, then the varnish is not necessary, there is no need for extra flammable materials, if for the street, then we will also have to “work through” our picture. In the hot method, the layer of wax that covers the image is itself a moisture barrier and is very good.
Well, one last piece of advice. If you do this with a child, then explain to him that the metal conducts heat very quickly, and if you hold the spoon over the flame for a long time, the handle will become hot rather quickly and it will hurt. And if you take a spoon with a plastic handle, this will save you from accidental burns, but it can cause fire to get on the plastic, it will be not only dangerous, but also very “fragrant”. With adults, such incidents are impossible, and children are children, they are unpredictable.

So we got at least one candle, in style suitable for vintage toys, . And so, step by step, you can transform the house for Christmas with minimal costs and maximum pleasure from the process. And not only for Christmas, but also for all year round to change the interior a little, if it’s a shame to start a creative rigmarole just for the sake of a holiday, I want that if I created something, then enjoy it longer.

In the last picture, the usual decoupage method is used - two layers of rice paper on glue. Without varnish. Create and get creative!

Decoupage of candles is a great way to transform even such an ordinary piece of furniture.

The resulting masterpiece can be presented to a friend or left at home to please yourself and your household. Your efforts will be rewarded with an absolutely unique home accessory.

Every year there are new ideas for decoupage. In this article, we present MK (master classes) on decoupage.

Choosing a candle and pattern

White candles of sufficient thickness are best suited for decoupage. As a rule, they are easier to work with. Give preference to those specimens that have a dense top layer. This will reduce the chance of the paper stencil catching fire. Watch the video at the end of the article, it will teach you how to perform this technique correctly. Of course, other stencils can be used, but their decoupage has its own characteristics and difficult moments.

If you decide to decoupage thin candles, then it is better to use drawings with small black and white elements.

Advice! Such candles are not suitable for frequent use. Rather, they will only perform a decorative function. This is due to the fact that they warm up too well when ignited. It's not exactly fireproof.

Having chosen the desired basis, you should decide on the pattern. Many specialized stores sell special types of napkins with a ready-made pattern. Although this decoration method allows the use of ordinary napkins. Using the decoupage technique, you can make fabulous candles for any holiday, including the New Year. Below is detailed instructions how to make decoupage yourself, as well as a video for it at the end of the article.

Types of decoupage techniques

On the Internet you can find a large number of video material on how to make such candles, we will first give step by step instructions and consider step by step each of the techniques. Looking ahead, we will say that you will not need to use glue for each of these decoupage styles at all.

"Cold" decoupage

In this technique, candles with thin walls can be transformed. In this case, the pattern will fit almost perfectly to the surface. This type of decoupage is suitable even for beginners. Below is MK.

To decorate using decoupage technique, you will need the following materials:

  • candle;
  • napkin;
  • sharp scissors (you can manicure);
  • stick (better - glass, but you can use any, only with a smooth surface).

First, measure the length of the napkin. Leave a small allowance (about one centimeter in length and width). Attach the pattern to the candle and align it along the top edge. Carefully pat. This is best done with a glass rod, moving gently from the center. Lightly press the tool for better bonding with a napkin.

If you glued the pattern to the entire surface of the candle, then the resulting seam must be carefully processed. First, glue one side of the picture, then the other, after cutting off the extra piece (if, of course, there was one).

Advice! Avoid overlapping the seam, otherwise the final result will look sloppy.

Finish the top and bottom edges. If you have extra paper, cut it off carefully. The drawing will stick to the candle even without the use of glue.

Apply decorative elements on top, for example, sparkles, depending on your idea. And you will get a small masterpiece, as in the photo. If you still do not understand the details of decoupage, then watch the detailed video at the end of the text.

In this type of creativity, you can use a variety of motives.

hot decoupage

Decoupage in this style is easy to do with a regular spoon. For this you will need the following materials:

  • candle;
  • candle-tablet;
  • napkin;
  • small spoon;
  • sponge or regular bandage.
  • Advice! Do not overdo it with a spoon, otherwise sloppy stripes may appear in the picture.

Let's start our MK. Cut out the pattern you like with scissors without a margin for seams. Separate the two remaining bottom layers of the napkin.

Take a teaspoon and hold it for about a minute inner part over the "tablet" (see photo).

Advice! Be sure to warm the spoon, otherwise you can stain the drawing with soot.

Holding the pattern from the edge, smooth it with the back of the spoon, moving from the center. Repeat the procedure for warming up the spoon from time to time.

As a result, the pattern should become almost transparent and soak into the candle itself, as in the photo.

Next, we proceed to smoothing the stripes and irregularities on the candle. To do this, take a bandage and rub with it our masterpiece to a shine. You can use a fresh new sponge. Both parts of it will come in handy: with the rough side, smooth out the bumps, and with the soft side, polish.

Decoupage with a hair dryer

Decoupage can also be done using a regular hair dryer. For this you will need:

  1. candle;
  2. napkin;
  3. scissors;

Having prepared necessary tools, proceed directly to decoupage. To get started, take a napkin, preferably two or three layers. Cut out the drawing.

Try on and straighten the pattern on the product and cut off the excess. Turn on the hair dryer on the highest possible setting. After attaching the pattern to the candle, direct the air flow from the hair dryer at it. Continue until the pattern is firmly glued. You will get such a wonderful piece of decor, as in the photo.

Acrylic paints in black and white candle decor

You can paint a pattern with acrylic paint to further decorate the candle. If it is, of course, required. If you don't like rhinestones and beads, great idea For additional clearance products can be decorated with coffee beans (as in the photo).

Decoupage for a special occasion

Decoupage of candles can be done in a wide variety of styles. They may vary depending on the holiday for which you plan to make such a craft.

The most popular candle decor option is the New Year theme. Fortunately, New Year's motifs on napkins can be found in any store. These can be deer, angels, Santa Claus and other New Year's ideas (see video at the end of the article), and it is also quite appropriate to decorate them with bright ribbons. Such cheerful candles will delight children very much and will look perfect in the interior for the New Year.

You can use any Christmas motifs as an additional decor. These Christmas candles are easy to make yourself (see photo). They are made very simply, even without the use of glue. And they can serve as an interior decoration for more than one year.

Decorating candles with coffee beans is another fun way to decorate. How easy it is to make candle decoupage with your own hands - watch the video. The candle can be painted or inscribed, for example, using Decola acrylic paints. In addition, Decola is also suitable for creating the effect of aging.

Nice candle, will serve as a wonderful gift to your loved one

With such candles you will meet the New Year in a fabulous, special atmosphere. In addition, the joint production of these small masterpieces brings the family closer. Decorating candles in this style for the New Year is not difficult at all. To do this, you need to have literally half an hour of free time and a desire to create.

Nowadays, there are more than enough candles of different shapes and sizes in stores, they can be both decorated with a pattern and with a smooth surface. However, it is not always possible to find the right option. Then you can make a beautiful candle yourself. You will be able to get a candle, which will be in only one copy. Decoupage technique at first glance may seem complicated, although it is not. It is enough just to choose the right napkin and carefully sharp scissors, and better with hands cut the part where the desired pattern is located, and stick it on the desired surface.

Before you get acquainted with decoupage techniques in detail, you need to decide which napkins are best to use. paper napkins for work can be purchased at any art store, but if you like a particular look elsewhere, you can safely purchase them. The fact is that there is no difference in quality, just in a specialized store you can buy the required number of napkins, while in others you will have to pay for the whole package.

As for the decoupage technique, the following types are used in relation to candles:

  • Cold;
  • With a spoon;
  • Heating with a hair dryer.

To thoroughly prepare for the case, each of the techniques must be considered in detail. Cold technique is suitable for candles with thin walls. The whole process consists in applying a napkin to a candle and smoothing it with a glass stick. After the napkin is securely glued to the candle, we remove the flaws with the scissors and the work is ready. For decoupage with a spoon, you need a little more tools. Prepare a sponge, a candle-tablet and a sponge. Having picked up the desired pattern in size, cut it out. Now you can light a candle - a tablet and heat the inside of the spoon on it.

You should not worry about the fact that the candle will remain burning, it is easily erased.

The spoon warms up for a minute, then the drawing is applied to the candle. With a spoon you need to make smooth movements from the center to the edges. You should not linger for a long time in one place, as cavities are formed that will be impossible to fix. The remaining uneven surfaces are removed with a sponge, the hard side will smooth the surface, and the soft side can polish the candle. The last blow-dryer technique is almost as applied as the spoon technique. The only difference is that you need to send hot air streams to the drawing and wait until it attaches to the candle.

DIY candle decoupage material

In order to get started, you need to know some important points. Experts advise using only dense candles of light shades as the main material. When buying a candle, you need to pay attention to its surface, its layer must be dense. Only in this case, the candle will not warm up during burning, thereby reducing the likelihood of paper catching fire.

If there are intentions to perform decoupage on a candle of a different color, you must remember that the color of the pattern should be lighter, since the color of the pattern may be lost against the general background.

Of course, standard candles can also be used for the decoupage technique, but it should be noted that if this gift is used only for its intended purpose, then the paper can quickly burn out.

In this case, it is better to choose small patterns that will not only decorate the candle, but will also be safe.

We make decoupage of a plaster candlestick: a master class

Candlesticks made of gypsum with decoupage technique are bright and beautiful. They will not only be pleasantly put in a prominent place, but also presented to relatives and friends.

In order to create such a candlestick, the following blanks may be required:

  • Gypsum;
  • Water;
  • Special forms (you can use milk cartons);
  • PVA glue;
  • Napkins with a pattern;
  • Candles;
  • Decorations.

Very often, needlewomen are afraid to use plaster. However, there is nothing complicated in its application. In order to make such candles, you need to dilute the gypsum mixture according to the instructions. Next, pour the consistency into the molds and wait for about 15 minutes. When the mixture begins to solidify, you need to have time to stick a candle-tablet into it. So the gypsum will remember and leave the necessary shape.

After 15 minutes have passed, the plaster is removed from the mold and left to dry for several days.

When the work is completely frozen, it must be sanded and only then proceed to the design with a napkin. The napkin is glued to PVA diluted with water. We decorate the finished work with sequins, braid or other accessories you like.

Candle decoupage: master class (video)

What can you say about decoupage technique? On this moment is a very popular hobby. Someone is engaged in wedding themes and decorating glasses. After all, what could be more beautiful than a delicate wedding glass goblet. If you have a desire to learn this technology, you can view the photo and video tutorials provided by Anastasia Gella, this is exactly the master who can explain how to create the aging of wooden objects, how to decorate gift boxes and bring inexpressible beauty to creativity.

The technique is very popular with modern needlewomen. In it they embody the most original ideas for decorating boring household items. With its help, you can create a unique gift, a stylish element that complements the interior. Do-it-yourself decoupage of candles looks very beautiful and festive. It creates a unique atmosphere of a real Christmas fairy tale.

The method was first used in the 12th century to decorate old and nondescript furniture in the homes of Chinese peasants.

All you need is a decor item, improvised materials and inventory. So that decoupage of candles with your own hands at home does not cause difficulties, adhere to the following rules:

  • Process the surface of the selected object. If it is uneven - sand and apply 2-3 coats of primer. With smooth and even products that have been correctly selected, this is not necessary.
  • Prepare your drawing. Remove the top bright layer of the napkin and cut out the desired fragment with scissors. If the picture is too small or executed on thin paper - cut out only large elements, draw the rest of the details with paints and a thin brush in place.
  • Glue the pattern to the surface. Dip a flat brush into a small amount of glue and gently spread it on the outer layer of the napkin. Make sure that wrinkles and bubbles do not form on it - straighten them with a brush. Start gluing the pattern from the center, moving smoothly towards the edges, then wait for it to dry.
  • When the ornament dries, paint on the missing parts of it with paint, add the rest of the decorations - rhinestones, beads, sparkles. Cover finished work special varnish for fixing and protecting against small mechanical damage. If you apply varnish in two layers - wait until the first one dries, and then apply the second one.

If you have a creative idea, you can safely get to work

cold way

This option is suitable for thin candles - the paper will adhere more tightly to their surface. The cold way is the easiest solution to how to make decoupage candles with your own hands if you are a beginner and are not familiar with all the intricacies of this technique. This is done as follows:

  • Prepare the picture as indicated in the rules.
  • If you are decorating the candle with a continuous layer, leave some material for the seam.
  • Lubricate the napkin with glue and attach to the decor item.
  • Smooth it with a stick in the direction from the center to the edges.
  • Cut off the rest of the paper to get neat seams.

Hot method (using a spoon)

For the hot method, you will need two candles, a napkin or card with a pattern, and a spoon. Next - follow the instructions on how to make a hot candle decoupage with your own hands in stages:

  1. Cut out the elements from the napkin.
  2. Separate the two bottom layers and attach the pattern.
  3. Heat the spoon on the fire of the second candle.
  4. With the convex side of a hot spoon, gently draw from the center of the pattern to its edges.
  5. Do not drive her for a long time in one place so that there are no paraffin streaks.
  6. The paper is instantly saturated with wax and sticks firmly to the workpiece.
  7. Walk around with a soft sponge and sand the surface.

With a hair dryer

An ordinary hair dryer can be a good helper for a do-it-yourself candle decoupage master class:

  • Prepare the necessary equipment in advance - white candles, napkins with pictures, scissors and a ruler, a brush, a paper knife and do not forget about a hair dryer.
  • Decide on the size of the picture - add a centimeter of napkins to the height and width of the product.
  • Peel off the top layer with the picture and attach it firmly to the paraffin, with the pattern up.
  • Turn on the hair dryer on the most powerful setting and let it heat up.
  • Direct the flow of hot air to the element to be decorated and hold it in your hands.
  • Then heat the napkin itself with a hair dryer, slowly moving it over the surface of the object being decorated.
  • Hold the air flow in one place until it sticks, press it with your fingers, but be careful not to burn yourself.
  • If necessary, turn on the hair dryer, let the candle cool, and then repeat the process.
  • Smooth out any wrinkles and folds that appear with a brush.
  • Cut the paper edges at the base and fold their ends, fix them with hot air.
  • Use a paper cutter to cut off the rest of the napkin at the wick. If they start to move away, heat them again with a hairdryer until they are saturated with wax until they are completely glued.

What is candle decoupage?

Handicraft art is based on working with paper applications that can be applied to almost any surface - ceramics, wood or glass. To keep the pattern functional, it is covered with several layers of special varnish.

Since then, a lot of time has passed, new decorative elements have appeared, decoupage of candles with their own hands has become an actual occupation. For him, use multilayer napkins with various patterns or special cards made of rice paper.

The design method is available to anyone, all the necessary goods can be easily found in the store.

How to choose a candle for decoupage?

The secret of a beautiful and spectacular decoupage is the right wax blank. It is recommended to give preference to thick and white candles with a smooth surface. The color is considered neutral and is well suited for the implementation of any creative ideas.

When choosing it, you should pay attention to a number of the following nuances:

  1. Density of the top layer. The denser and smoother - the less likely the paper fragments to quickly heat up and ignite.
  2. Work surface color To work with colored products, you should choose printouts or cards that are close to their tone. The colors of the picture transferred to them will be less bright than on a napkin or card.
  3. Candle thickness. Thin and small wax objects will be difficult to use for their intended purpose, as they heat up immediately and completely. For them, you should choose a small drawing, small figures or notes.

Necessary tools and items for decoupage

As in any handmade hobby, decoupage is indispensable without special tools. The minimum set includes:

  • sharp scissors for cutting applications;
  • palette or plastic plate for mixing paints;
  • synthetic brushes and acrylic paints;
  • insert file for transferring the pattern to the workpiece;
  • cards, napkins and printouts with pictures;
  • universal acrylic primer and varnish glue for decoupage;
  • special finishing varnish.

A more serious hobby and participation in master classes will require additional items:

  1. Varnishes with different properties - craquelure, potal, mastic, shimmer.
  2. Table and dessert spoons - for hot decor.
  3. A smooth cylindrical stick - preferably glass.
  4. Skins for surface treatment - making them smooth.
  5. Thermal tapes and glue-based rhinestones, other decorative accessories.
  6. Wax blanks with which you will work.

Decoupage candles for the new year: do-it-yourself

Winter holidays are a great occasion to show your imagination, to realize your inspiration. You can embody practically any idea of candle decoupage on New Year with their own hands, using various elements and patterns for decoration.

New Year is one of the most favorite holidays of every person.

Wax products decorated in red-gold and silver colors, decorated with sparkles and decorative braid will look original and stylish.

  1. In the first case, you will need - a white candle, a napkin with red, yellow and green tints, a small sponge and an acrylic golden outline. Prepare and glue the drawing using one of the methods above. Apply as a background with a sponge acrylic paint and let it dry. Outline the Christmas stars and leave the craft to dry for 5-6 hours. To create a festive atmosphere - use scented products with orange, cinnamon or pine scent.
  2. The second option differs in color - replace the gold outline with a silver one, pick up a thematic picture in cool colors and add some sparkles when finished. Fix them with varnish and let the whole structure dry for 6 hours.
  3. To implement this idea, take a decorative braid and two colors of acrylic contour - white mother-of-pearl and white with gold sparkles, a suitable pattern, a sponge and a simple white candle. The principle of drawing the picture remains the same. Create a background with a sponge and glitter contour, let it dry for 20 minutes. Decorate the top of the candle with white mother-of-pearl stars, circle the stars with a gold outline. Set the workpiece aside for 2 hours to dry completely. Decorate it with a decorative braid along the bottom of the picture, sticking it on a special glue.

Decoupage - from the French word decouper - cut - a decorative technique that consists in carefully cutting out fragments from various materials, which are then glued or otherwise attached to various surfaces for decoration.

Three-layer napkins are very successful for decoupage. You can now buy them at any store.

Today we will do decoupage on candles. For decoupage you will need: a napkin, a candle that you are going to decorate, nail scissors, a teaspoon, your hands and your imagination.

The execution algorithm is simple ...
Carefully cut out the desired fragment from the napkin.

Check how it fits on the candle, imagine how it will look in finished form.
Then, we remove two unnecessary layers and we are left with a very thin layer with a pattern, which we will stick to the candle.
Now the fun part: heat up our teaspoon.

Choose the method of heating yourself, which one you like best.
Can be heated over an open fire. I don't like this way. Firstly, it is not safe, and secondly, because of the soot, you can ruin the work.
You can immerse the spoon in hot water, hold it and the spoon will heat up. Then wipe it so that the water does not get on the napkin and you can get to work.
You can heat the spoon with a hairdryer (see)

Having attached a fragment to a candle, we begin to drive a hot spoon over a napkin. The paraffin under the napkin melts a little and the napkin sticks to the candle.
We look carefully that all edges are glued. If the spoon is cold and the paraffin does not melt, repeat the heating process and continue working.

Of course there is also a special glue for decoupage. But you can’t always buy it, and frankly, for candles, this method works better than glue.
Here you have glued the fragment you need. If you will not glue anything else, you can fix the decoupage by covering the candle with candle varnish.
There is no special varnish, it does not matter either. Take an ordinary colorless nail polish, you can take it with glitter, for beauty and cover the fragment with a brush. Or take some hairspray and spray it on the candle

Now let's decorate the candle. To do this, with water contours of gold and silver color, we enliven the drawings a little.

and put dots on a surface free from a napkin.

Received in confetti: p).

In principle, the candles are ready. They can be placed in any New Year's composition. And you can make stands for greater stability.
