Vintage DIY Button Necklace. Button jewelry Button jewelry for the neck

The other day a friend came to visit me. Before she had time to take off her coat, my gaze was drawn to her necklace. Unusuality, originality, effectiveness - that’s what won me over in the first seconds about this jewelry.

The necklace, oddly enough, was made of buttons... Yes, yes... From the most ordinary buttons, of which many people have countless numbers in their homes.

It turns out that buttons can serve as an excellent item for fashionable jewelry, which is not at all difficult to make with your own hands.

The main thing is the desire to do something original.

You have a variety of buttons at home: from small to medium. With their help, you can create a beautiful necklace that will not only decorate your neck, but also give your outfit a special charm.

You can buy a set of buttons covered with material, or you can cover ordinary buttons with your own hands. The basis can be either colored or plain material. Buttons can also be covered with guipure.

This necklace is, one might say, “a real work of art.” Assembled from a variety of numerous buttons strung on metal chains, it looks unique.

If you have not only satin ribbons, but also buttons with beads, then you can start getting creative. The idea is presented, and then your imagination should work.

This necklace will highlight your unique feminine look.

The main thing here is that the pendant matches the weight of the chain, otherwise it may break.

Nowadays, vintage style jewelry has become incredibly popular. Many women would like to have them in their arsenal. Of course, there are many stores where you can buy them, but they will not be as expensive as homemade ones. We invite you to become designers for a while and try to create a vintage necklace yourself, from the simplest material - buttons.

Since ancient times, women have strived to be attractive and original in order to stand out from the crowd and attract the attention of men. They used different techniques: they experimented with clothes and hairstyles, cosmetics and perfumes. All kinds of decorations occupied a special place in the art of “being beautiful”. Gold and precious stones have been and remain the subject of dreams for many generations of women, but do not be upset if they are not affordable. Often, carefully selected, cheap jewelry can say much more about its owner than expensive jewelry.

First of all, you should look into your grandmother’s closet and look for interesting items there; you can look through your old clothes, ask your friends and acquaintances if they have any suitable options. You can also look into your nearest sewing accessories store. Having collected the required number of buttons you like, you can get to work.

Step 1: Selection of necessary materials

To create a necklace you will need:
1. Vintage buttons
2. Nippers
3. Artificial leather or leatherette
4. Satin braid
5. Sewing scissors
6. Hot glue gun
7. Faux pearl beads.

Step 2: Selecting buttons and creating a sketch

Choose your favorite buttons. They should differ in size, color and pattern, but be combined with each other.

Before gluing the buttons to the fabric base, lay them out on a flat surface and try to create an interesting composition. Remember it, sketch it or take a photograph.

Step 3: Preparing the Buttons

Most vintage buttons usually have a small shank on the back.

Using pliers, you need to remove it as carefully as possible so that the back side of the buttons becomes smooth.

Step 4: Attaching the Tape Fastener

Measure and cut the required piece of leatherette. Prepare satin braid, it will be needed for the fastener. Cut enough braid so that you can tie it at the back of your neck with a bow (about 50cm).

Using a burning match or lighter, burn the cut ends. Glue the tape to the leatherette flap, leaving the ends the same length on both sides.

Step 5: Attaching the Buttons

Start gluing buttons. Apply hot glue to the back of the button and quickly place it on the leatherette, according to the intended composition.

The world is becoming brighter and more creative! At least when it comes to decorating a person. Ready-made, standard solutions are no longer interesting to us; give us a curiosity, originality. Such, for example, as jewelry made from buttons - bracelets, rings...

And don't say it's not stylish! Of course, such a style is not entirely appropriate for the office and business style of clothing (although this is not a fact!), but for aesthetics, hippie, country style in an outfit - a button jewelry design will look its best!

Luckily, making your own button jewelry is easy. You can use a thin elastic band in the form of a thread and string bright, original buttons stored in your closet or purchased at a fabric store onto it.

How to make a bracelet from buttons using metal? Easy too. At a jewelry supply store (or the same “Fabrics”), buy a thin chain and a clasp for it. Measure the required length (according to the girth of your wrist), and use special earrings to attach the buttons to the chain. You can make the product monochromatic, or you can make the eyes run wild from bright colors.

A button necklace will look especially chic and modern if you put many elements on the chain at once.
