Crochet amigurumi monkey- a knitted miniature toy with a soft filling, which will be the best entertainment for your children if you join the monkey with other animals: a cat and a dog, a pink pig, and maybe even a doll in a stylish dress that can also be crocheted.

Amigurumi, the art of knitting small toys, originated in Japan, and has since spread throughout the world, and now needlewomen all over the world create small figurines of animals and other creatures with their own hands. In recent years, this hobby has spread to Russia, and it has especially appealed to teenage girls and young mothers who want their child to play only with the highest quality toys.

For teenage girls, amigurumi is an excellent opportunity to learn the first skills of crocheting, and in the future they will be able to create other products with their own hands - knitted berets or interior elements, for example, pillow covers and warm blankets.

Initially, amigurumi was crocheted and crocheted, but in recent years, crocheted toys have become the most popular form of art, but there are also those craftswomen who remain faithful to knitting. In addition to various animals, you can also knit inanimate objects and give them human properties, for example, cupcakes or hats with eyes and small hands, because this is Japanese art, in which there is always room for your creative imagination to fly.

Crochet amigurumi monkey

If you want to know how it's done crochet monkey, master class this one was created especially for you, but first you need to master the simplest knitting skills, because amigurumi are made very simply - in a spiral. The circles are not connected in this case, but there is also a European method in which each new circle is closed and a new one begins with a lifting loop.

A prerequisite for such toys is that it is necessary to knit very tightly, without gaps, since the stuffing material can come out through the cracks; for this, they always take a tool of a smaller size than is necessary for a given thickness of yarn. You can always choose the right hook number by trial and error, try several different options, both tools and yarn, knit control samples, and you will definitely choose the ideal combination. And in the future you will only buy such threads of different colors, because toys should always be bright, but it is advisable to give preference to natural shades.

Amigurumi toys are made from separate elements: the body, head, arms, legs, tail are knitted separately, and then the elements are connected. But there are also toys that consist only of a torso and head, and do not have limbs, so they can be made in one piece. To give life weight to the limbs, plastic pieces are stuffed into them, and the rest of the body is filled with fiber padding.

The main distinguishing feature of such toys is their cuteness; they always have a spherical, large head, a cylindrical body and small limbs. Your child will play with such animals with pleasure, and even for an adult such an animal will be a wonderful gift. Recently, this trend has become widespread among young people who love to travel: they take an amigurumi toy with them on a trip and take photographs of it against the backdrop of various landmarks, against the backdrop of all the interesting objects along their route.

Crocheted monkeys with patterns

Before performing toys knitted: crochet monkey with patterns It will turn out very neat and beautiful if you understand the symbols that can be found on such diagrams. You will only need to master the simplest types of loops, because in such toys there is no need to make complex patterns. This is why amigurumi are so attractive to beginner knitters who want to try their hand at knitting.

To make the initial loop, you need to put the end of the thread on the thumb of your left hand, insert the tool from left to right, and pass it into the resulting loop. Now the loop slips into the thumb, and you need to grab the thread that comes from the index finger, pull it through the loops, then tighten it.

One of the main elements of knitting is an air loop; with the set of a chain, the execution of any toy that you are planning to make begins. On the diagram they are always indicated by an empty circle. The chain is done like this: through each last loop that is on the hook, you need to stretch the working thread, grabbing it with a tool.

To move from one row to another, you need to use a half-column, for which the tool is inserted into the loop, pick up the thread and pull it through both loops that are put on the hook. This technique is convenient if you need to close one circular row using the European knitting method.

The main element of amigurumi knitting is the single crochet stitch, which allows for tight knitting for original homemade toys. The tool is inserted into the loop, the thread is picked up and pulled through the loop. Now you have two loops on the tool, you need to pick up the thread again and pull it through two loops. Thus, you need to complete the entire row, and you will see how a tight knit is formed.

Sometimes a reverse stitch is also used; to perform it, you need to insert the tool from the reverse side, move it around the post and grab the thread, then complete the column as usual. The row will turn out beautiful, slightly raised and reminiscent of a pigtail.

A half-crochet with one crochet can also be useful, which is rarely, but still used by novice craftswomen. The thread must be wrapped (thrown) over the tool, pulled into a loop, so you have three “loops” on the hook. After this, the thread must be hooked and pulled through all three loops.

There are also stitches with one and two crochets, for which you must first throw a thread over the tool, make one or two crochets, respectively, then insert the hook into the loops of the previous row. To create a stitch, first bring the thread through the warp loop, then thread the thread through two loops until only one, the last loop remains on the tool.

Crochet monkey: pattern

To get a spherical head when you perform Crochet "Monkey", pattern involves adding and subtracting the number of columns in a row. To increase their number, you need to knit two in one column of the previous row at once in the next. And to decrease them, you need to pull the thread through the loops of the previous row twice, and then pass the thread through all the loops on the tool.

When you work the first row of the chain, the tool can be inserted into one or both arms of the ch. And if for some projects it is necessary to make a convex edge, then the hook should be inserted from the reverse side. When performing the next row, when you work with the previous row with a stitch, it must be inserted into both arms to get an even knitting. Only in some cases is it inserted only into the anterior or posterior arch.

If there is a report in the row, i.e. a pattern that is repeated several times throughout the entire row, then the order of loops that must be repeated is enclosed in the symbols “**” in the diagram.

Usually knitted in the round, i.e. The result should be a continuous row, and the knitting should be dense and resemble a spiral. Sometimes it is necessary to mark the beginning of each new spiral row; for this purpose, special marker pins made of plastic are used so that the sharp tips do not break the thread. If you don’t have such safe pins, you can take a washable felt-tip pen, or simply pass a piece of yarn of a contrasting color through one column.

When you knit an element in spiral rows, at the end of the last one you need to make a half-column, connecting the last column with the first in the previous row. Stretch the thread, fasten and cut.

Crocheted monkeys with description

We need to prepare now, and, naturally, the best present will be crocheted monkeys, with description that we offer you, even a novice needlewoman will quickly master their implementation. You can make not only a monkey, but also any other animal.

The main advantage of such toys that you make with your own hands is that they are made from environmentally friendly materials, because you use natural cotton yarn, and natural fibers for stuffing. Even a small child can play with such a toy, and you may not be afraid that he will pull it into his mouth.

Those who are engaged in scrapbooking and make already know exactly which paper is best to choose for this type of creativity, but a novice knitter may get confused, because the selection of different yarns in the store is simply huge.

The beauty, neatness and quality of your toy depend on the quality of the thread, its density and strength. For the first try of a new technique, you can choose thin acrylic threads; they do not cause allergies in children, their cost is affordable, and the choice of colors is quite diverse.

Crochet monkey: master class

More miniature works are always performed with thin cotton yarn, for example, you can choose the most affordable option - Russian-made Iris, or more expensive foreign brands - Alize or Yarnart. Such miniature figures can become bright; with your own hands you can decorate your home for the holiday with only original decorative elements.

For the monkey you will need yarn of brown, light and deep yellow, red, beige colors, for example, to get a tight knitting you need to take threads with a density of 320 meters per 100 grams, and crochet with number 1.5. You also need to prepare a couple of eyes and material for filling the craft in advance.

If you want to get a fluffy animal, then you need to choose a yarn called “grass”, but for a novice knitter it can be very inconvenient, since the loops are practically invisible, and in most cases knitting occurs “at random”.

To give a child an original designer gift that he will like, sometimes you have to spend an impressive amount of money. And not always, even if you are ready to empty your budget for the required amount of money, the stores have something that will suit you and your child. Of course, you can order a wonderful handmade gift online or buy it in an expensive boutique, but a little thing that will be made by your own hands will certainly delight the recipient and retain a piece of your soul. Moreover, you will always know what your gift consists of, and you can confidently say that it does not contain harmful, low-quality or hazardous materials.

In this article you will learn about one of the options for a homemade gift - a monkey crocheted using the amigurumi technique.

This toy can be given not only to a child. An adult will also be pleased to receive it as a souvenir; you can also perfectly fit this craft into the interior of your home or use it as a keychain.

Crocheting (monkey patterns are provided below) is very simple. Of course, if this is your first time picking up a hook, you will have to practice a little.

What is amigurumi?

The term "amigurumi" appeared relatively recently. The word came to us from Japan. It is believed that Asian craftswomen used this technique for a very long time as an alternative to the European knitting method. However, the style received its world-famous name only after the release of the cartoon Hello Kitty on world television screens, when Japanese fans of the cartoon posted photographs of the first miniature copies of the characters on the Internet.

Now amigurumi animals (in this case you will crochet a monkey, the knitting pattern is very simple) have filled the whole world. There are several rules that must be followed in order for your bonded pet to be called an "amigurumi".

Miniature

One of the most important differences between amigurumi is the small size of the toy; it should not exceed 12 cm. After all, it is this miniature size that makes them so cute.

Bright colors and maximum personification of even inanimate objects

In order to comply with the Japanese style, your author's creation must have a human face (mouth or nose, eyes). To further “humanize” the product, dress your pet. You can crochet, you don’t even need a pattern here. To create amigurumi, you need to choose bright colors; it is important to avoid smooth color transitions. All details of the muzzle are made in black or dark brown.

Disproportion and technique

Amigurumi toys always have a relatively large head. Knit all the elements in a circle so that there are no extra seams.

Now that you know briefly about the style in which you will crochet a monkey, the pattern described in this article will not come as a surprise to you.

So, let's proceed directly to creating our toy.

Materials and tools

Before you learn how to crochet a monkey (the diagram, as you understand, is not the only thing you need), you need to prepare the following supplies:

  • Knitting threads of different colors. For example, blue and white, white and orange yarn will go well together, although what colors your monkey will be made in depends only on your desire, taste and imagination. Since we are crocheting a monkey (pattern, description and photographs are presented below in the text), acrylic thread is best suited for you. A toy with such a composition will hold its shape better and look more natural, especially since stores now offer a large selection of children's hypoallergenic acrylic.
  • Black or dark brown thread for embroidering face details.
  • Crochet hook. Its number should be a couple of sizes smaller than the yarn you choose.
  • Cotton or padding polyester filler.
  • A needle and thread to connect all the parts of your monkey.
  • Scissors.
  • Beads or ready-made eyes (if desired, eyes can also be knitted or embroidered)

diagram, description

As mentioned earlier, in this article we will look at the Japanese technique of knitting an amigurumi monkey.

Any product is crocheted using this technique in a spiral, so that, having mastered only the initial skills in crocheting, you can easily knit yourself a cute favorite, following our advice.

The main task when knitting such a toy is to make sure that the loops fit as closely as possible to each other, without gaps or gaps. Otherwise, filler will come out of the finished monkey, giving the finished product a sloppy appearance. This is why the hook size should be slightly smaller than the size of the thread used.

When creating our monkey, we will first knit all its body parts separately, and then connect them after we fill each of them.

A little introduction for beginners

Below you will find a brief description of the simplest types of loops that you need to master before crocheting a monkey. The diagrams for beginners are clear and show step-by-step execution of one or another type of loop.

Initial loop

Place the end of the thread on the thumb of your left hand, insert the hook from left to right, grabbing the thread, and insert it into the resulting loop. Grab the thread going through your index finger and insert it into the ring that has slipped off your thumb. Tighten.

Air loop

The end of the thread with a loop lies on the thumb of the left hand and the rest of the thread hangs down, bending around the index finger of the same hand. The “bridge” of thread between the fingers should be slightly taut. You insert the hook into the loop, grab the thread from the “bridge” and pull it into the loop until a second loop is formed. Insert the hook into the newly formed loop and repeat the operation until you get a chain of the desired length.

Single crochet

Thread it through the last loop, then thread it into the previous loop and grab the thread, pulling it back through both. You now have a loop on your hook. Without removing it, insert the hook into the next loop of the previous row and repeat the action, etc.

Connecting loop

To do it, insert the hook into the last loop of the row and, without removing it, thread the hook into the first loop of the row, catch the thread, and then thread it through both loops. That's it, you can knit the next row.

We have sorted out all the nuances that we will encounter as we work, and now we are crocheting a monkey step by step.

Head and body

  • We knit 7 air loops.
  • A row of single crochets, this will be the first row. Connect all subsequent rows with a connecting loop.
  • Rows 2 and 3 are knitted, tying two single crochets onto each loop of the row in front of them.
  • Row 4: knit, alternating loops of the previous row, on one you tie 1 single crochet, on the second 2, on the third 1, on the fourth 2, etc.
  • Row 5: You work by working 2 single crochets onto each stitch of the row in front of it.

Since we are crocheting a small monkey, we will have to stuff parts of its body as we knit it, so already at this stage you can put a little filler in the crocheted part.

  • Rows 6, 7, 8 are knitted with a regular single crochet, tying 1 stitch on each loop of the row in front of them.
  • Knit rows 9-13, decreasing as much as you added in rows 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Add filler.

  • Knit rows 14, 15 with a regular single crochet, tying 1 stitch on each loop of the previous row.
  • Rows 16, 17 and 18 you put 1 single crochet in three loops of the previous row, and 2 single crochets in one.
  • Next, we knit rows with a regular single crochet until the monkey’s body reaches the size you need.
  • Adding filler, we knit the last three rows with decreases corresponding to increases in rows 16, 17, 18.

When we are crocheting a monkey step by step and have already knitted the main element - the head with the body, we should not relax, because there are still a lot of details ahead, not difficult to knit, but no less necessary for this.

Ears

  • Knit 7 chain stitches, then 6 single crochets. Connect this entire structure into a ring.
  • Row 2 is knitted by skipping two single crochets into each stitch of the row that comes earlier.
  • Rows 3, 4, 5 are knitted with a regular single crochet, 1 in each previous loop.

You need to knit two pieces of such parts, or you can knit 2 more pieces for the ears of a different color and smaller size and sew them together.
Using the same pattern, tie your eyes.

Knitting pattern for muzzle

  • Knit 4 air loops and close them to the ring.
  • Rows 2 and 3 are knitted into the loop in the middle, 2 single crochets each.
  • Rows 4 and 5 are knitted with 1 regular single crochet.

This is the only part you need.

Monkey feet

  • Row 1: knit 7 chain stitches, make 6 single crochets and tie them into a ring.
  • Rows 2, 3 and 4: work 2 single crochets into each stitch of the previous row.
  • Fill with filler.
  • Rows 5, 6 and 7: decrease as many stitches as you added in rows 2, 3 and 4.
  • Fill with filler.
  • Next, we knit rows in a regular single crochet stitch with a thread of a different color, until the leg is the length you need.

Don't forget to add filler from time to time. You will need a couple of these parts.

We continue to crochet the monkey.

Hand diagram

  • Row 1: knit 7 chain stitches, make 6 single crochets and tie them into a ring.
  • Row 2: Work 2 single crochets on each stitch in the row in front of it.
  • Rows 3 and 4 are knitted using a regular single crochet stitch.
  • Row 5: decrease stitches according to the increase in row 2.
  • We knit subsequent rows with a thread of a different color until the hand reaches the desired size.

We make 2 such parts.

Knit the tail like arms, only longer.

Now you have finished crocheting a monkey, the assembly diagram is described below.

Putting the monkey parts together

  • First of all, you need to sew the arms to the junction of the body and the head.
  • Then we sew the legs parallel to each other to the bottom of the body along the edges.
  • Now you can sew on the tail; it is placed at the back in the middle of the lower part of the body.
  • Attach the muzzle to the bottom of the face and the eyes above the muzzle.
  • Embroider a mouth on the muzzle.
  • Attach ears to the sides of the head.

Well, now you have become the proud owner of a small handmade monkey. Now, if you have a desire, we crochet a basket monkey. You already have a monkey pattern, but how to knit a basket? Knit a small “bowl” in a circle in a contrasting color and attach the toys to the hands. You can put small jewelry there, such as earrings.

Good afternoon friends!

Today, I will tell you how to crochet a monkey toy.

To knit a monkey we will need:

  • Blue yarn Alpina – 25 g.
  • Light brown yarn (artificial yarn) – 15 g.
  • White yarn (artificial yarn) – 5 g.
  • Yellow yarn (acrylic) – 5 g.
  • Black yarn for nose/
  • Hook No. 2-2.5.
  • Black beads – 2 pcs.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.
  • Sintepon.

We knit the monkey from the head, or rather from the nose. Make a chain out of 7 loops; this chain is knitted in two rows (rows 1-3).

Row 4: now we knit it like this: a loop is knitted, and from the next one make 2 loops, then 1 loop is simply knitted and so on in a circle.

Row 5: This row is knitted without adding loops.

Row 6: knit like this: knit two loops, and from the next one make two loops, again just knit two loops and so on in a circle.

Row 7: This row is knitted without adding loops.

Rows 8-13: These rows are worked only at the top from one edge to the other.

Row 14: we tie everything in a circle to connect it with a single stitch.

Row 15: take blue yarn and knit this row.

Row 16: knit like this: knit two loops, and from the next one make 2 loops, again just knit two loops and so on in a circle.

Rows 17-24: these rows are knitted without adding loops.

Row 25: knit like this: knit two loops, cut by 1 loop, just knit two loops again, then shorten, and so on.

Row 26: This row is knitted without adding loops.

Row 27: knit like this: knit one loop, cut by 1 loop, just knit one loop again, then cut and so on in a circle. We fill our heads with padding polyester. Before filling with padding polyester, you need to form the nose by gluing it a little inside.

Row 28: This row is knitted without adding loops.

Row 29: knit like this: knit 1 loop, decrease by 1 loop, just knit one loop again, then shorten and so on in a circle.

Row 30: This row is knitted without adding stitches.

Rows 31-32: decrease in each stitch, tighten the thread, cut with scissors.

We knit the torso

Row 1: Cast on 4 stitches.

2nd row: this row is knitted without adding loops.

3rd row: we tie it like this: 1 loop is knitted, and from the next one make two loops, then 1 loop is simply knitted and so on.

4th row: this row is knitted without adding loops.

5th row: we tie it like this: 1 loop is knitted, and from the next one make two loops, then 1 loop is simply knitted and so on in a circle.

Rows 6-19: These rows are knitted without adding loops. Stuff the body with padding polyester.

Row 20: knit like this: knit one loop, cut by 1 loop, just knit one loop again, then cut and so on in a circle.

21st row: this row is knitted without adding loops.

Rows 22-24: decrease in each stitch, tighten the thread, cut with scissors.

Knitting handles

We start knitting handles from the palm, or rather from the fingers. For the finger you need to cast on 4 loops and knit to the other edge.

A distance of 1 loop is knitted between the fingers; 3 more such fingers need to be made.

Knit to the other end along all the fingers, then in the opposite direction, but catching any inner loops so that the result is a circle. Two rows are knitted; in the next row, decrease 1 stitch along the edges.

We start knitting with blue thread, and knit 14 rows with it, fill the handle with synthetic padding. And rows 15-16 - reduction in each loop.

The second handle must be done in exactly the same way.

Knitting legs

We start knitting the legs from the feet, or rather from the toes. For the finger you need to cast on 3 loops and knit to the other edge. A distance of 1 loop is knitted between the fingers; 3 more such fingers need to be knitted.

Knit in the opposite direction along all fingers, then in the other direction, but catching any inner loops so that the result is a circle. Five rows are knitted; in the next row, decrease 1 stitch along the edges.

We start knitting with blue thread, and knit 11 rows with it, fill the leg with synthetic padding. And in the 12th row - decrease in each loop.

The second leg needs to be done exactly the same.

Knitting ears

The ears are knitted from light brown yarn. Make a chain of three loops, 3 rows are knitted in a circle. It turns out to be a circle that needs to be folded in half with the wrong side. Tie the resulting part to connect these two halves, cut the thread. Do the second ear in exactly the same way.

Knitting the tail

We knit a tail from light brown yarn. Make a chain of three loops, these three loops are knitted until you get a rope 23 cm long, which will be easily twisted. The tail does not need to be filled.

Knitting a banana

And you can’t do without the Monkey’s main attribute – a banana. For the banana, you need to make 4 loops with white yarn, then they are knitted to a length of 4 cm, and finally cut a few loops.

For the peel, you need to make 4 loops and knit in one direction and then back. So, 8 rows are knitted, after which 2 rows are knitted without threading the hook into the outer loops in order to shorten the part a little. You will need to knit 2 more pieces of this kind.

Glue the peel to the main part of the banana. The banana is ready!
