  • A piece of facial tissue measuring 21 by 30 centimeters.
  • Soft lining material measuring 21 by 30 centimeters.
  • Sealant measuring 21 by 30 centimeters (non-woven, for example)

Material Needed for Fabric Wallet

All the main pieces of fabric should be folded together (see photo "step number 1").

Step #1

Each piece of material is sewn tightly to each other using sewing machine or manually. This must be done as carefully as possible, so that in the end you get a beautiful wallet.

Step #2 - Sewing the Pieces

Do not immediately attach the outer edges of the product. It is necessary to make a mark for attaching the fastener. After that, fix the magnet or rivet. Sew the product from all edges.

Step #3 - fastening the clasp
Step number 4 - stitching on the edges

You will end up with a one-piece blank for the wallet, which will bend very well in the right places.

Pattern for the side of the wallet
Wallet zipper design

Today I want to present you another translation of the master class, which will tell us how to sew a fabric wallet with our own hands. I chose this particular master class because, firstly, the work turned out to be extremely beautiful and incredibly accurate, and, secondly, because the authors of the master class made it very detailed. For convenience, I will translate all sizes in cm and will choose analogues of materials known in Russia.

The wallet has a large central pocket for banknotes and 4 additional small pockets for bank cards. Plus, there is an external zippered coin pocket. The inner layer of extra hard lining, pre-sewn prior to assembly, allows the wallet to fold easily and also provide more rigidity.

The folded wallet measures 20.3*12.7 cm.

Materials and tools:
  • sewing machine,
  • 70 cm. cotton width 110 cm. for the main interior, exterior accent, inner pocket and belt,
  • 30 cm of cotton 110 cm wide for the main outer part (in the example, the part with a butterfly pattern),
  • 40 * 23 cm hard dublerin or interlining,
  • universal zipper 17.8 cm,
  • D-ring with a diameter of 3 cm for attaching the strap,
  • magnetic clasp,
  • threads in the color of the fabric,
  • transparent ruler,
  • pencil for marking on fabric,
  • iron and ironing board,
  • scissors,
  • ripper,
  • pinning needles.

Note: All details must be carefully checked before cutting. Do not forget to take into account the correct location of the pattern when making patterns and its direction on a closed wallet.

Cutting of fabric.

IMPORTANT: This painting is A4 size. You must print the PDF file 100%. Do not scale according to the page.

Cut out the template along the solid line.

From the fabric for the main interior, exterior and strap (in the example, the striped fabric), cut the following (the stripes should be located vertically on all patterns):

  • 1 rectangle measuring 22.9 * 38.7 cm for decoration,
  • 2 rectangles 20.3*14 cm for card pockets,
  • 1 rectangle measuring 22.9 * 12.7 cm for an external accent,

NOTE: . On the above pieces, make sure the striped pattern fits from one piece to the next.

  • 1 rectangle 22.9*17.8cm for zipper pocket,
  • 1 rectangle 40.6 * 10.2 cm (strap strip),
  • 1 rectangle 10.2*10.2 cm (strip for D-ring loop).

From the fabric for the main outer part (exterior, butterflies), cut out the following:

  • 1 rectangle 22.9 * 21 cm for the upper outer part,
  • 1 rectangle 22.9 * 10.2 cm for the bottom,
  • 1 dublerin/non-woven rectangle 20.3*6.2 cm.

Hard lining preparation.

Step 1. Prepare a 20.3*36.2 cm doublerin rectangle. Place it on your work surface. If possible, use a geo-referenced cutting mat to make your markings and measurements easier. Trim the corners from the 20.3 cm side (this will be the top of the wallet). To create the correct corner, measure a diagonal line 2.5 cm from the corner.

Step 2 Measure and mark three vertical stripes of the dublerina. Starting on the opposite side of the one you just cut (this will be the bottom of the wallet), measure and mark one strip 12.7 cm from the edge, a second line at 25.4, and a third line 26 cm from the edge .

Step 3. Shorten the stitch length; we used 1.80 mm. Stitch along each of the three drawn lines. This stitching helps "break" the solid fusible which will make the wallet easier to pour into when finished.

Wallet interior and pockets

Step 1. Find a piece of striped fabric 22.9 * 38.7 cm and two rectangles 20.3 * 14 cm for the pockets. Place the fabric on your work surface, right side up and flatten. Align the cut out printed corner of the wallet along the top of the panel and cut off the corners.

Step 2 From the bottom edge of the panel, mark two horizontal lines. The first at a distance of 15.2 cm from the bottom edge and the second at a distance of 17.1 cm from the bottom edge.

Step 3. Fold each of the two pocket pieces in half, right side in, pin along both sides, now 3 inches long.

Step 4. Hand-sew the edges on the sides, leaving 0.6 cm. Turn the pockets right side out and gently push out the corners with a long blunt tool, such as knitting needles. Smooth out. Lay the raw edges of one pocket on the marked 17.1 cm line, place in the center. Pin with needles on the sides.

Step 5. Sew the raw ends 0.6 cm from the edge, securing the beginning and end of the stitch back and forth. The stripes on the pocket fabric should line up with the stripes on the panel.

Step 6. Fold the pocket up, using the seam you just made as a fold. Pin the sides of the pocket on to the fabric. In the same way, place the second pocket along the line measured at a distance of 15.2 cm.

Step 7. Fold the second pocket in the same way, overlapping the first. Pin the edges of the second pocket through all layers.

Step 8. Stepping back 0.5 cm on the sides, sew the pockets to the fabric of the wallet. Use a back and forth stitch again to secure the beginning and end of the stitch well.

Step 9 Draw vertical line exactly in the center of a pair of pockets.

Step 10. Stitch along the drawn line to create four pockets, perfectly sized for credit cards.

Exterior panel and zip pocket

Step 1. Take a rectangle with the main pattern 22.9 * 20.8 cm (we have butterflies). The drawing must be placed upside down. Fabric - face up.

Align the cut out template with the top of the panel and cut the corners according to the template.

Step 2. Find a piece of fabric measuring 22.9 * 12.7 cm (stripes) and a rectangle 22.9 * 10.2 cm (butterflies).

Machine sew these two pieces with what was prepared in the previous step. Back off the seam also 0.6 cm. Make sure that you place the pattern correctly (upside down).

Step 3. Take a rectangle of fabric for the zipper pocket (22.9 * 17.8 cm) and a 17.8 cm zipper. Place the fabric wrong side up on the work surface. Using a fabric pen or pencil, draw a 17.8 x 1.3 cm rectangle along the long stolon 1.3 cm down from the top edge.

Step 4. Take the three pieces sewn together in step 2. Place it face up on your work surface. On the large outer patch (panels with cut corners), measure 5.1 cm from the seam line with the striped fabric in the center and pin the fabric with the zipper window right side inward with needles.

Step 5. Sew along the drawn frame using a shortened stitch length (we used 1.80 mm).

Step 6. Make a cut in both layers.

Step 7. Turn the fabric right side out through the hole, smoothing the corners, straighten.

Step 8. Turn the fabric right side up. Position the zipper under the hole. Fasten with needles.

Step 9. Sew the zipper to the pocket around the perimeter

Step 10. Fold the fabric right side in, folding the pocket in half, bringing the bottom edge of the pocket to line up with the top edge. Pin it.

Step 11. Turn over again on the front side. Sew both layers from one end of the zipper to the other only along the edge passing under the zipper (over the previous stitch).

Step 12. Place the workpiece face up and place on the work surface (beveled corners up) at the top. Mark the location of the magnetic lock. The first half is on the back of the outer panel with butterflies, at a distance of 1.3 cm from the edge. The second half is on a striped panel that closes on the outside, at a distance of 2.5 cm from the connecting seam with the next flap with butterflies (see diagram below). According to the manufacturer's instructions, insert each magnetic lock.

Assembly

Step 1. Place both parts (lining and outer part) as shown in the picture above. Then lay the outer part right side down on the first part (lining). As shown in the picture below, place the prepared piece of dublerin on top. Sew along the perimeter of all layers together with dublerin, leaving 10 cm below without stitching to turn the wallet inside out.

After learning how to sew a leather bag, an organizer for documents, a wallet, a headphone holder, ballet shoes, jewelry from this material, you can create these author's things with your own hands.

How to sew a set from leather?

If you have small scraps of this material, you can turn them into practical items that make an interesting kit. This master class will clearly explain how to sew a leather bag in the form of a fish, a holder for wires and headphones, light ballet flats, a case for glasses.

First you need to do things that require more material, and then you can move on to those that can be created from the remnants of the skin.

How to sew a leather bag?

To sew a bag in the form of a fish, you first need to redraw the image, which will help you make a pattern.

Now you have an idea of how many parts this reticule consists of. You will need a pattern for each part, they are given below.

It will be enough to attach each pattern to a piece of leather of the corresponding color and cut it out with a seam allowance.

If your starting material is also thin, as in this case, then also seal it with adhesive dublerin. To do this, fold these two materials and iron from the side of the doubler.

Put the iron on the "cotton" mode, and in no case turn on the steam function, otherwise the workpiece may stretch out and lose desired shape.

Where the seams will pass, it is necessary to cut off the dublerin, so that subsequently these blanks can easily turn out and not puff up.

The upper part of the fins must be placed on the skin and stitched around the perimeter. In blue leather, the butt is white, you need to paint over it with such paint. Use a water-based acrylic that adheres well and is water resistant after it dries. So that the surface of the future handbag is smooth, and this end of the skin does not get wet, grease it with SMS powder diluted in water.

Let the paint on the fins dry while you sew the head of the fish. Sew together the parts that make it up and make the stitching more decorative by topstitching the right and left seam on the right side. Of course, you first need to iron the fabric on one side and the other of this seam.

Here's how to sew a leather bag further, for which you translated and cut out the patterns with your own hands. Now sew the fins to the top of the fish and sew the back pieces together.

Use an anvil or similar object to smooth out a bulky seam. Put the workpiece on it with the seam up and tap on it. Now you can turn this piece right side out and decorate the seam with two parallel decorative stitches.

Now you need to sew a zipper. You can use the same color as the head or other body parts of the fish.

If you will use a lining, attach it to the wrong side of the blanks. Please note that the seam allowances after you make a stitch need to be cut. Then the finished product will not puff up and it will be easier to turn it on the front side.

Turn the bag inside out and tap the seam gently with a mallet to smooth it out. Now lay decorative stitches.

Sew buttons instead of eyes or attach buttons using a special tool.

Connect the center of the back to the inside of the head, turn the workpiece right side out. Stitch the rest of the details. Do the same with the second part of the fish.

Connect these two parts by attaching them to each other with the right sides and sew.

Now you can put the slider on the detachable zipper and fix it.

After you turn the leather bag inside out, you will need to complete its creation. To do this, cut out these straps from yellow leather. One is useful for carrying the bag in your hand, the second for putting it over your shoulder. Sew metal fittings to these elements and to those on the bag to which they will be attached.

With a hidden seam, you need to sew the lining to the zipper on the hands.

It remains to put straps on the bag, after which you can surprise your friends and those around you with such a fashionable accessory.

DIY shoes

Such a handbag will look wonderful and harmonize with light ballet flats. See how to sew shoes with your own hands.

First, redraw the presented pattern. It is designed for the 38th size. Consists of two sheets.

Transfer them to paper and cut them out. Now connect the details of the shoes from this material to understand whether these ballet flats will be just right for you. If it just doesn't fit a little, then make adjustments to the pattern at this stage.

Lay it on the prepared skin, outline and cut. Also don't forget to cut out the insoles.

Put them inside the ballet shoes, gluing them to them. When the glue dries, then sew on a typewriter. So that the sandals then keep well on their feet, make 2 slots on the strap.

Cut small rectangles from double-sided tape and glue them to the wrong side of the shoe stripes. Now you can attach these details, and then sew them on.

Here's how to make sandals out of leather next. Decorate them with cuts of blue material so that this thing fits the created handbag. These decorative inserts at the same time will remove the junction of the straps with the toe of the shoes.

Cut out soles from thick rubber by attaching a pattern to these blanks. It can be made on the basis of other shoes that fit you. You also need to glue small heels to the back of the sole.

It remains to glue the outsole to the shoes and wait for the glue to dry, then to flaunt in this new thing.

Here's what you needed to take to make your own leather shoes:

  • a piece of artificial skin;
  • scissors;
  • stationery or construction knife;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • skin glue;
  • threads;
  • a needle;
  • sewing machine;
  • rubber for soles and heels.
You will probably have leftover leather scraps that you can turn into a glasses case. If you do not wear regular ones, it will come in handy for solar ones.

glasses case

Redraw the pattern that is in the photo below.

Put the pattern on the material, cut it out. It is most convenient to close the case with a button. But then you need a special device to attach it to the skin. Sew along the straight edge. Do the same stitch on the opposite rounded side. Fold the workpiece almost in half and glue or sew the sides.

It remains to tie the ends of the threads so that the line does not bloom. Hide the knots and admire what a beautiful DIY glasses case you have made.

How to make a holder?

You will create a device for headphones from a very small piece of fabric. Then you won't have any more tangled wires if you take them with you.

This thing will also continue the "fish theme", so the pattern is made in the form of a fish skeleton. Attach it to the back of the skin and outline. In total, you will need two such parts. Sew them together, but leave a centimeter unsewn on both sides. These holes are needed so that you thread the wires here.

What a wonderful kit this is.

If you do not want to have a set, then you can create a roomy handbag.

How to sew a leather bag with your own hands?

The size of the finished bag is 42 by 36 cm. It consists of two parts that you first need to cut out. They will turn out like this.

Each of them measures 50 by 38 cm. Leave one centimeter for the seams, and add 5 cm at the top for the hem. The bottom corners of these triangles should be rounded. To do this, take a regular roll of tape, attach here and outline.

Then you will need to designate the tucks so that the bag acquires volume. These angles are 45 degrees.

The length of the tuck is 3 cm. Take the “Moment” glue and attach the tuck with it. After that, let the solution dry and you can stitch in this place. Then, with the help of glue, connect the parts if your bag also consists of four rectangles.

When the glue dries, sew on these places, and then tap with a mallet to smooth out the skin at the seams.

Apply a little Moment glue to the back of the allowances and fix them in a horizontal position.

Now you will need to make decorative stitches along the main seams.

Speaking about how to make a bag with your own hands, it should be noted that it is necessary to periodically apply a ruler to the perimeter and align it, cutting off the excess.

According to the size of the sewn bag, you need to cut out the lining. If you will make a knapsack with a pocket, then you need to make this detail from the lining fabric.

Lay the two pieces for the pocket to one and the other halves of the bag and sew, connecting them with a seam.

Then you will need to sew on a typewriter, at the same time sewing a zipper on the pocket.

Sew a lining with a pocket according to the size of the bag.

Now we need to make the handles.

To remove the excess thickness of the handles, remove the part of the suede from the inside with a sharp blade.

Fold each handle in half crosswise, stitch on the wrong side. Then turn it right side out. Delay the edges of the handles.

If you have already sewn the lining on top of the bag, then carefully cut at the top, insert a pen here and sew.

If not, then slide the ends of the handle between the lining and the leather, then topstitch.

If your sewing machine cannot handle this thickness, then attach the handles using one of the following methods.

Now you have an idea of how to sew a bag with your own hands. Therefore, you will be able to cope with the creation of the next product.

How to make an organizer for documents?

You can create it according to the size of your documents and the desired thickness.

To sew such a purse out of leather, you will need:

  • paper;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • cardboard;
  • awl;
  • mallet;
  • skin punch;
  • wax;
  • waxed threads;
  • Genuine Leather;
  • leather needles.
You can use the presented pattern or create your own according to the size of your documents.

First, draw a pattern on paper, then transfer it to cardboard. Now you can cut out the elements of the purse from the leather.

Carefully round off the corners with a sharp knife. Now you need to create uniform holes on those parts of the purse that you will sew together. This can be done with an awl or a special tool.

To make the holes at the same distance from the edge and from each other, it is better to first make them in a cardboard template, and only then apply it to the leather elements and make holes.

Now add the details. So far, you've got one large rectangular piece, one small rectangular piece that will be on the left, and another small rectangular piece, the larger side of which is notched at an angle. These details are on the right. Combine these elements and sew them on your hands.

Now you can fold the wallet in half and beat it with a mallet at the fold to give it the desired shape. After that, you can put documents in your pockets to be able to carry them with you.

Of course, money also needs to be hidden somewhere. For them, you can create a beautiful purse that you sew from leftover leather so that it harmonizes with the rest of the products. If you wish, make a device two in one.

How to sew a leather wallet - master class

First you need to cut a rectangle out of cardboard to understand what size the wallet will be. Fold this template in half and see what the purse will be like. If the size suits, then proceed to cutting out smaller parts. They are shown in the next photo.

Now, with a punch or an awl, make holes that will help sew the parts. Start with a pocket where you'll keep your change and a flap to help close your leather wallet. Sew the listed parts according to the holes.
  • skin glue;
  • scissors;
  • a candle;
  • hairpin;
  • if there is, then a puncher.
  • Using the printer, translate the presented pattern for hairpins and rings.

    First, cut it out of paper, and then attach this template to the skin and cut out the details already from it.

    Using punches, you need to make holes in various places. If there is no such tool, do it carefully with nail scissors. With the help of them, make larger holes in the ring for the finger.

    With a sharp knife, carefully cut holes in the large petals.

    To make flowers with concave petals, hold each piece a little over a candle flame.

    Glue a small flower on the back of the ring. Make two cuts in another small flower. Insert the hairpin here and glue this blank right side to the wrong side of the blank for the hairpin.

    Pass each small petal through the slit on the large corresponding petal.

    This is how wonderfully leather jewelry looks from the front and the wrong side. If it seems to you that there are not enough holes along the edges of the petals, make them. And if you want to see for yourself how amazing things can be made from leather, then sit back and watch the fascinating processes.

    If you are interested in how to sew a leather bag, then take a look at the intricacies of the first plot. You can create a handbag from the old leather coat like the heroine of the video.

    And make leather jewelry from the remnants of this material.

    A wallet is a necessary thing, without it, as they say, nowhere. And in this moment we sew a wallet with our own hands according to patterns from Japanese magazines. Wallets in the form of cats are always pleasing to the eye and look interesting and original. We will have three master classes, so that everyone who looks at the page will be able to choose and sew a wallet with the image of cats and cats to their taste. Two wallets will be sewn from fabric, and one from leather. Wallets can be sewn on a sewing machine, but if you don’t have one, it’s okay. If you sew with your own hands with a thin needle, carefully, then no one will notice the difference.

    Here is such a wonderful wallet Cat can be sewn from light fabric with your own hands. The wallet is quite roomy, if you get bored as a wallet, then it can be used as a cosmetic bag or a pencil case. It is very easy to sew it with your own hands. The master class will help us understand the intricacies of the work.

    1. Light colored cotton or linen.
    2. Dark fabric for decoration.
    3. Any thin fabric for lining.
    4. Zipper.
    5. Three buttons for the cat's face.
    6. Brown threads for finishing and decorating the muzzle.
    7. Strong threads in the color of the product.
    8. Sintepon or cotton wool for stuffing the head and paws.

    We start by looking at a Japanese pattern and transferring it to paper. Place the paper on the fabric. We should get 2 identical cut details: one from the main material, the other from the lining. We put both parts right side out and sew, fastening both fabrics. If you want a wallet smaller size, take the length not 26, but 20 cm. The same height: the greater the height, the deeper the wallet.

    We cut out the finishing details: hind legs - 2 parts, front paws - 2 parts, ears 2 + 2 children, head - 2 children, tail - 2 children, "bangs" - 1 children.

    We take our dark fabric for decoration and cut off a 4.5 cm segment of such a length that it overlaps its “tail”. This strip is recommended to be cut on an oblique. We apply the front side to the front, we chop off with pins.

    You need to sew, stepping back from the edge of 1.5 cm.

    We turn the lining, we pin it with pins. Sew the lining to the finishing fabric with a hidden seam.

    Pin the zipper with pins and sew, stepping back from the edge of 0.5 cm, as in the photo. We hem the zipper fabric.

    We fold the ears inward, stitch. Turn inside out and stuff with padding polyester.

    We sew 2 parts of the head, after sewing the “bangs”. Leave an unstitched section for eversion. Do not forget to insert the ears Turn inside out and stuff the head with padding polyester.

    Sew the head and paws to the main part. We make a muzzle. The hind leg is also lightly stuffed with padding polyester and sewn to the main part.

    So our fabric wallet is ready, with our own hands. In a similar way, you can:

    Children's fabric wallets

    Several children's wallets, hand-sewn from fabric. Such cute wallets are suitable for a child for small things, and if you sew several different ones, from different fabric, then they can store children's crafts.

    For the master class you will need:

    Fabric of different colors (main and lining).

    1. Lightning.
    2. 2 buttons.
    3. Sintepon for stuffing.
    4. Threads for embroidery of the muzzle.

    We transfer the pattern to paper, and then to the fabric, pin it with pins and cut it out.

    Each half of the wallet is a so-called "sandwich": the main fabric, synthetic winterizer, and lining. Don't forget to leave room to turn inside out. One half wallet:

    The other half of the product is also stitched.

    Trimming off the excess:

    Turned out on the face.

    Sew on the eyes and decorate the face of the cat.

    We sew a zipper.

    That's it, the master class is over.

    On the reverse side: the fish can be drawn and glued.

    Another children's wallet with a pattern that can be sewn by cutting old jeans:

    If you replace the linen light fabric with denim, and sew any lace on the back, you get a very good children's wallet. Lace can be crocheted.

    To learn how to sew a leather wallet with several pockets, you need to learn how to sew a simpler leather product first. If you have old leather or leatherette items (boots, bags, jacket) that are out of fashion - do not rush to throw it away, try to sew something you need, for example, a wallet. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can make holes with a punch and hammer, or use an awl to make holes. And sew these holes by hand.

    For the master class you will need:

    1. Leather or leatherette.
    2. Clay Moment or Hot glue.
    3. School square.
    4. Lightning.
    5. Pencil.
    6. Strong kapron thread.

    From the very beginning, decide what size wallet you need. For example, in our master class, the wallet has a size of 20/9 cm. We take a piece of leather and draw two rectangles on it with a pencil and a ruler: one is 20/14 cm and the second is 20/4 cm. Another small piece (8/ 4 cm) of skin is needed for the brush.

    Cut out 2 rectangles.

    We take glue, and apply it to the edge of the first part. We attach a zipper and press it to fix it. We do the same with the edge of the second part.

    Carefully glue the zipper.

    We sew on a typewriter or on our hands a zipper to the details.

    For decoration, we will make a small brush: cut the fringe with scissors, stepping back from the edge of 1 cm.

    We take glue and apply it to the upper cut of the brush.

    We thread a strip of leather into the hole of the zipper slider, apply a fringe and roll it up, as in the photo.

    We sew the entire perimeter of the product on a typewriter or on our hands - this is how we additionally fix all the edges.

    Trim the uneven edges to make the product look neat. The leather wallet is ready. You can attach a brooch to the product, or you can glue an application in the form of a cat.

    Here is one, for example, with a glued bow made of organza or braid.

    In the video, a story about how you can make a wallet out of old jeans.

    You don't have to buy a wallet! It can be made with your own hands. To do this, you will need the schemes and tips listed in this article.

    It's no secret that a leather wallet is quite expensive. That's why it's worth a try make your own thus saving a lot of money. For such crafts, you will need a small piece of natural or artificial leather.
