Steps

Stick made from a wooden nail or branch

Buy a wooden nail approximately 25-30 cm long. These can be found at a craft store, where they usually sell them in packs of several. You can buy a longer nail, and then cut off the excess using a hacksaw.

    • You can also use a branch you found on the street. Choose one that is no thicker than your finger, about as long as you want, and has almost no bends.
  1. Sand one end of the stick until it is round. This will be the tip of the stick. You can even give the stick a cone shape so that it tapers a little towards the tip, just like in the movies. Start with coarse-grit sandpaper and finish polishing the stick with a sheet of fine-grit sandpaper.

    • If you are working with a branch, it is better to remove any sharp or jagged growths with sandpaper. You can leave the bark and knotty growths on the branch, but they can be trimmed or sanded off if desired.
  2. If you want, you can use hot glue to form a handle. Usually this part of the stick is approximately equal in length to the length of the finger. Hot glue the entire part of the handle of your wand. Allow the glue to harden, and then, if desired, apply 2-3 more layers of glue in the same way.

    • It is not necessary to make a handle for all sticks. For example, Hermione's wand doesn't have a handle.
    • Once the hot glue has set, you can cut designs into it with the hot nozzle of your glue gun.
  3. You can glue a bead or button to the base of your wand handle. Some sticks have a convex part at the end of the handle. You can make the same one by gluing a convex bead or button to the base of the stick with hot glue. Choose something that's about the same width as the base of your wand so it's not too big.

    • Don't worry if the color doesn't match, you can color your wand later.
  4. If desired, you can use hot glue to apply a design to the rest of the stick. This material is ideal for applying a spiral pattern to a wand, like Hermione Granger's. This can be done by rotating the stick with the fingers of one hand and using hot glue to apply the design with the other hand. And if you don't have hot glue, you can wrap the handle with duct tape, or use polymer clay to make a nice handle without a glue gun.

Paint the workpiece in the main color with acrylic paint and leave to dry. Most sticks come in shades of brown, but you can make a black or even white stick. To add texture and depth to the color, paint the stick in several shades of the same color. For example, you can paint a stick brown, using light and dark brown shades.

    • Try thinning the acrylic paint with water to make the wood grain visible in some areas.
  5. Try to achieve the “aging” effect. Mix a darker shade of paint from your base color and fill in any cracks or chips on the stick. Then make a lighter shade of paint from the main color and highlight all the prominent parts on the stick with it. For this job, take a small, pointed brush.

Let the paint dry, then apply a setting emulsion to the paint layer to help it adhere better. Outside, place your wand on a piece of newspaper. Apply clear acrylic paint fixer to it and let dry. Then turn the stick over and apply the fixative to the other side. Let the fixative dry and repeat the procedure if necessary.

    • It is not necessary to apply a fixing emulsion to the stick, but it will prevent the paint from coming off too quickly. You can use a glossy or matte sealer.

    Product made from chopsticks

Buy chopsticks. If you are making a chopstick for a child, a simple chopstick will do just fine. If you are making a chopstick for a teenager or an adult, look for a bamboo cooking stick that is approximately 38cm long.

    • Don't worry if the color doesn't suit you, you can paint the piece later.
    • Can't find chopsticks anywhere? Instead, you can take a long wooden art brush. Simply remove the lint part along with the metal attachment. You can also break off this part or saw it off with a hacksaw.
  6. Use hot glue to form the handle and stick. The handle should be about the length of your finger. Cover the part of the workpiece where the handle will be with hot glue and let it harden. If desired, you can add 2-3 more layers.

Glue a bead or button to the base of the stick. Some sticks have a more intricate handle base. If you want a similar look on your wand, try gluing a small bead or raised button to the base of the handle. The fittings should be the same width as the base of your wand, meaning not extend beyond the edges of the base too much.

    • Choose a bead or button by design and don't worry about the color because it can be painted.
    • You can always leave a button or bead unpainted, especially if it looks like a crystal!
  7. Most wands come in shades of brown, but there were also white and black wands in the Harry Potter films. You can even paint your wand several shades of the same color to make it look more like wood.

    • If your chopsticks are made of bamboo, try thinning the acrylic paint with water. Using this technique, you can show the texture of the wood, which will shine through the paint.
  8. Age your wand a little with darker and lighter shades of the base color. Use a darker shade of base color paint to fill all the cracks and chips on the stick. Using a cotton swab or a pointed brush, you can fill such hard-to-reach places on the stick with paint. Then make a lighter shade of paint from the main color and highlight all the prominent parts on the stick with it.

  9. Treat the stick with a clear emulsion to set the acrylic paint so it will last longer. Take the stick outside and place it on a sheet of newspaper. Apply acrylic paint sealer and let dry, then flip the stick over and work the other side. Repeat these steps if necessary.

    • It is not necessary to apply a fixative, but this will make the paint last longer on the product.
    • You can choose a matte or glossy sealer.
  10. Magic wand made of paper

    1. Roll the sheet of paper into a small, thin, tight roll. Start at the bottom left corner of the sheet and roll it towards the top right corner. Stop when you pass the widest part of the leaf.

Apply some liquid glue to the remaining third of the sheet. To prevent the paper from getting too wet, apply a thin layer of glue with a brush. At this stage, you can hide the core in a stick. Here's what wizards typically use:

      • Phoenix Feather: Red, orange or yellow feather.
      • Dragon Heartstring: A piece of red yarn.
      • Unicorn hair: silver or iridescent tinsel hair.
    2. Roll the paper to the end and hold until the glue dries. This will take 20 to 30 minutes. If you don't feel comfortable holding the stick for that long, you can secure it with thread. Make sure the glue is dry before you move on to the next step.

Cut the ends straight. Rolled paper tends to have sharp edges at the ends. Using scissors or a utility knife, cut off both sharp ends. Cut one end more than the other: this will make it wider, just enough to create a handle.

Apply some hot glue to both ends of the stick. This way you will additionally secure the roll and it will not unfold. As a finishing touch, hot glue a small raised button or bead to the base of the stick. Make sure that the width of the fittings matches the diameter of the base of your stick: the bead or button should not protrude too much beyond the edges of the base.

Using hot glue, draw patterns on the stick. You can use hot glue to form the handle of the stick (usually the handle is as long as your finger). You can also use hot glue to create swirl patterns on the rest of the stick.

      • If you wish, you can glue cute beads or buttons onto the handle to create a raised pattern.
    3. Secure the stick design with primer. It's best to use paint primer, gesso (gypsum primer), or even decoupage glue (such as Mod Podge). Allow the primer to dry before continuing. This will ensure that the paper isn't too wet when you start painting, otherwise it might tear.

Paint the stick the base color with acrylic paint. Most sticks are in shades of brown, but there were also white and black sticks in the films. You can paint the entire stick one color, or you can use several shades of the same color. For example, you can paint a stick brown, adding strokes of light and dark brown to make it look more like wood.

    4. “Age” the stick a little and let the paint dry. This way you will emphasize the convex patterns on the stick. Apply the darker shade of paint you are using with a cotton swab or pointed brush to all the cracks and hollows of the pattern on the stick. Then use a lighter shade of paint to highlight any raised edges on the stick.

      • If your stick is black, you will need to highlight only the protruding parts, but if it is white, then you only need to draw the shadows.

After the release of the Harry Potter films, the magic wand became an indispensable attribute of any masquerades or holidays for children, where, in theory, magic should be present. It’s not difficult to make such a wand with your own hands, you will spend at most two hours on a wonderful wand, and you can make a wand for a fairy or a cool wizard, for a little princess or like Potter himself - it all depends on your imagination.

For the magic wand you will need the following:
Two sheets of white A4 paper,
Sushi stick,
Plastic tube (wide),
PVA glue,
Acrylic paints,
Thermal gun,
Round large bead, narrow long bead.

Step-by-step master class on making a magic wand with your own hands:
1. Place a wooden stick and a tube on the paper to understand the angle of inclination.

2. We put the tube on the stick to the point of expansion.

3. Place the workpiece at the correct angle on the paper, and coat the part of the paper from the stick to the right with PVA glue.

4. We wrap the stick with paper without glue, lightly pushing the paper under the stick. Lubricate the corner of the paper with glue.

5. Fold the paper around the stick and let the stick sit until the glue dries.

6. Cut off the edges of the stick evenly, put balls from a regular napkin inside (this is to reduce the amount of hot-melt glue in the future).

7. From the second sheet, cut off 1/3 of the short side for the handle of the magic wand.

8. Glue this part to one end of the stick, slightly pushing out the edge of the strip (creating volume for the bead).

9. This is what the handle of a magic wand looks like without a bead.

10. Drop a large drop of hot glue into the hole in the handle, where the napkin ball has already been inserted.

11. Immediately place a bead on the glue (it can be of any color, but the diameter of the bead should be slightly larger than the diameter of the handle).

12. Along the edge of the bead we lay a thin “stream” of hot glue - this is the lower edge of the magic wand.

13. Along the edge of the stick handle (where the thickening of the paper ends) we make a circular outline with glue.

14. Then, along the very edge of the magic wand handle, we make a stroke again. We constantly twist the stick in our hands so that the glue does not flow to one side. We make a patterned spiral along the long end of the stick with a very thin strip of glue.

15. At the thin end of the stick we strengthen the long bead in the same way.

16. When the glue is completely dry, we will paint the stick. We use acrylic paints for this.

17. For the handle of the wand we chose dark brown paint. You can paint with a regular soft brush for children's drawing. Let the painted end of the stick dry completely.

18. Paint the thin end of the stick with cream paint and let it dry too. The magic wand is ready. If desired, you can coat it with colorless varnish and make more decorations.

Our general idea of a magic wand comes from fairy tales and stories. It was an integral attribute of fairies, sorceresses and magicians. We could see a magic wand in fairy-tale films, for example the wonderful tale of Harry Potter, or when reading books. Of course, every little child wanted to have such a magic wand to fulfill their cherished dreams and desires.

No one can say with 100% certainty about the existence of fairies, wizards, gnomes and magicians. Maybe because we don’t meet them in everyday life? Or maybe someone has encountered them? Unfortunately, we will never know the answers to these questions. But in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth, and this is what the popular proverb says: “There is a lie in a fairy tale, but there is a hint in it.”

But if such a magic wand falls into the hands of a person, the consequences may be irreversible. But despite all the epics, there were people who had the skills to make a magic wand, but they did not tell the secret of making it to anyone, but only passed on the knowledge from generation to generation. If you love magical things, you can make one.

Only wizards recognized in the wizarding world knew such a secret. This was the Ollivander family from England in 382. Their family mass-produced magic wands in those days. How strange it is that their secret is used in our time, but they don’t tell it to anyone. Today you have a unique chance to find out this secret, just don’t tell it to anyone.

How to make a real magic wand

To make a magic wand you need to find a magic pencil. Everyone has one, we assure you, listen to your inner voice, it will tell you which pencil you need to take. We take a magic pencil and paste it with tape, colored paper, foil or other decorative decorations. At the top of the stick we decorate it, for example, with a star cut out of paper.

In order for the wand to truly work and fulfill all your cherished desires, you need to charge the magic wand with magical energy. Take the wand in your hands, close your eyes and clearly say the following spell:

“Oh, great wizards! I ask you to give magical power to my magic wand and accept powerful magicians into your ranks. I promise to use the magic wand only for good, to help people and fight evil. I undertake to never tell the secrets of wizards to anyone and am ready to be punished if I break this spell.”

This spell must be spoken from the bottom of your heart and with all your soul. Then the wizards will hear you and will help you in every possible way. They will always be nearby, but you will not see them.

You need to use the magic wand as follows:

  • You need to move the stick smoothly without sudden movements;
  • There is no need to shake or tug the wand;
  • What you wish for, the words should be clear and intelligible, you should not speak loudly.

The most important thing is not to doubt your magic wand and believe in its powers, then you will succeed. Remember, the wand will fulfill wishes as much as you put effort into it when creating it. But powerful wizards will somehow prevent you from using your magic wand for other purposes.

Unfortunately, she won’t be able to do your homework for you, won’t brush your teeth, or learn your homework. These are the things you need to do yourself.

A magic wand made by yourself may not help solve your problems, but you will definitely have a wonderful time, and you will also certainly reveal your own creative potential. Well, if you believe in magic, you may well find that the magic wand works. No wonder psychologists unanimously claim that your thoughts can materialize. At first, magic and magic will exist only on paper, but then they will appear around you. To test this, it would be nice to first create a basic magical tool - a magic wand.

What do you need to make a paper stick?

You will need thick paper. A4 format is suitable, it is best to take cardboard. You will also need a glue gun, silicone and a gun for it. You will need acrylic paints in golden and brown colors, brushes, a stapler and staples, scissors and newspaper.

Advice

For a small wand, a sheet of thick A4 cardboard is suitable, but those who want to make not a small, but a large magic wand, a true magician’s wand, will have to use larger paper.

All materials must be prepared in advance. Next, take a sheet and grease it all on the inside with PVA glue. For greater convenience, you can use a brush. After this, starting from one corner, you should wrap it diagonally in the shape of a tube. The shape will be something like a cone. When everything is ready, you need to leave it like this for a while. Wait for the glue to dry, but not completely dry. To prevent your paper tube from unfolding, you can secure it at the edges with clothespins or paper clips. Then you need to cut off the paper on the stick a little on both sides. Alternatively, you can squeeze it lightly first. After this, using a gun with silicone through the thin end of the paper, you need to fill the entire cavity of the future magic wand with silicone. When it is full, you need to turn it over to the other side, then fill the cavity with silicone through the wide hole. Well, the void is filled with crumpled pieces of paper or newspaper. The end of the stick is completely filled with silicone. After filling, you need to leave it until it dries completely, and then you can start decorating. By this time, the stick has already completely hardened, so you need to apply silicone in a circle using a gun. After the silicone has completely dried, we will need to paint the stick.

To do this, you can use acrylic or spray paint. You can paint it completely or partially. The base can be brown, and the curls are best painted with golden paint. And then creativity begins in its purest form - we give free rein to our imagination, drawing magic symbols with spirals and other magical elements on it. Now the wand is ready and you can do any magic with it.

Harry Potter wand

You can make a wand like Harry Potter's. To do this, double-sided tape is glued to the middle of the tube rolled into a cone. In this way, the structure will not unfold, since it is securely glued together with adhesive tape. The remaining free end of the sheet is smeared with PVA glue and glued to the stick. Then the structure must be left until completely dry. You can fill it with anything, for example, wads of paper. Next, the end of the stick is filled in such a way that a rounded shape is formed from a drop of glue at its end. You can also make 2 sticks and place them inside each other like a nesting doll. This will make the structure durable. To make it the same as Harry Potter's, you need to decorate the thing with rings or lines, zigzags, spirals and stars.

Conclusion:

A magic wand is not always real magic, but its creation is always a fascinating, childish activity that can give a little fidget a lot of positive emotions.
