Decorative box for napkins. Decorative tissue box How to make a beautiful box out of a box

pandiha in DIY napkin box.

The idea to make my own tissue box was born after I spent a lot of time looking for this item in stores, but all in vain. I didn't like what I found there.

We will need:
- box of tissues
- cardboard to strengthen the box inside
- glue (for example PVA)
- glue and varnish for decoupage
- a napkin with a matching pattern
- stationery knife and iron ruler
- cutting mat

So let's get started.

1. With a knife, carefully cut the box lid on three sides so that it can open. Shake out the napkins.

2. We measure the walls of the box and cut out four rectangles from cardboard. This is necessary in order to strengthen the rather soft walls.

3. Glue the cardboard inside. Carefully tear off the film, which closed the hole for napkins, but not completely. This is necessary in order to use the cover of the napkin holder as a stencil.

4. We put the lid on the cardboard and circle it. Cut out.

5. But for the cover of one fortification from the inside, in my opinion, it will not be enough. Therefore, we apply the lid again and cut out the outer lid of the box, taking into account the closing and opening.

6. We glue the blanks inside and out. Before gluing the inside, do not forget to glue the film back. The best way to do this is with double sided tape.

7. Paint the box white. It is best to tint with acrylic paint using a regular dish sponge.

8. And finally, we glue the decoupage napkin. Instead of decoupage glue, you can use PVA glue diluted with water.

9. When everything is dry, glue the Velcro. I glued it with a hot glue gun, but if it's not available, you can just use super glue to make it stronger. Voila, we stuff the napkins into place and use it.

Well, or finish the additions.

It is often convenient to have napkins always at hand. However, just putting stacks of napkins on tables throughout the apartment is not very aesthetically pleasing. It would be much more functional to use a special beautiful box for these purposes. That is what we are going to do in this article.

For these purposes, we need a wooden or cardboard box, double-sided tape, colored fabric and ribbon.

Making a decorative tissue box that will please our eyes is very simple. It is enough to find a box of the right size, as well as a fabric and a ribbon that will blend harmoniously with your interior, after which you can get to work.

To make our decorative decoration, we take a box in which a slot for napkins will be pre-made, and glue the edges of the box with double-sided tape.

We tightly wrap the box with the fabric of our choice, and make the necessary cuts so that you can easily pull out the napkins.

After that, it is necessary to tightly glue the fabric to the adhesive tape, previously pasted on the edges of the box. It is also necessary to stick the fabric together with the napkin holes on the back side.

Excess fabric must be carefully trimmed with scissors.

Along the edges of the box, the fabric must be folded in the form of an envelope and glued with adhesive tape, from the inside of the folds.

The finished box can be decorated with decorative ribbons, and put napkins or paper handkerchiefs inside.

Are you fascinated by the moment when an ordinary thing turns into a beautiful, extraordinary specimen? And the materials used are the simplest, and the result is amazing?

School of craftswomen Child.BY offers a magical workshop where we transform an unremarkable shoe box. What will happen in the end? And as a result, an unusual interior object will come out - charger organizer.

Oksana Sidorskaya will tell you in detail how to create such an art object on your own.

Preparatory stage

For magic you will need:

  • box from under shoes
  • acrylic paints(mostly white)
  • decoupage glue for napkins
  • napkins three-layer
  • sponge for dish washing
  • brushes(soft for varnishing; short, hard for gluing a napkin)
  • varnish acrylic

Decoupage shoe box

Step 1. We're going to need the strongest, ugliest box in your closet.

Why unsightly? It often happens that the surface of the box is glossy, flawlessly smooth, and this is not good for us! Because we work with a cardboard blank, then we do not use the primer, but immediately apply the paint.

But such smooth coating significantly reduces the adhesion of materials Simply put, the paint can peel off. If our box is just from this opera, we need sandpaper. We go over the entire surface with a small piece, remove the gloss a little.

We wipe, brush off the dust so that nothing gets under the paint.

Advice. We use sandpaper not too large, so as not to make deep scratches!

Step 2 Making the box white. Only on this color the napkin pattern will be clearly visible. If at one time it was not possible to close the "native" color of the box, we cover it with a second layer of paint. We use a not quite traditional method in the generally accepted concept of "painting", we paint not with a brush, but with a sponge!

The brush leaves a mark, while Sponge evenly stains which I like very much. In addition, the sponge creates a very pleasant texture if, for example, you just want to paint the box and not glue the napkin on the sides.

Advice. If you are lucky and your box is white without inscriptions and other things, feel free to proceed to the next step.

Step 3 So, the box is painted, dried (if we are in a hurry, then we dry it with a hairdryer at some distance, but it is always better if the materials dry themselves) and is ready to be pasted over with a napkin.

We choose a motive. This procedure is the most difficult ... There are a lot of napkins, all are beautiful, and I want to glue everything at once and a lot.

When choosing a motive, you should follow a few rules:

  • everything in moderation (do not overload with colors, elements),
  • if the motifs are from different napkins, then on the same topic and in a similar color scheme (we don’t glue roses on the lid, but ships on the sides, we combine objects logically),
  • on large objects - large elements, on small - small.

There are several ways to glue a napkin:

  • file method. To do this, put the colorful layer of the napkin “face down” on the file, sprinkle it with water, straighten it neatly and apply it to the surface already smeared with glue, roll the napkin with a roller and remove the file with a slight movement;
  • glue the napkin with a brush. With this method, several points should be taken into account: we begin to glue from the edge, holding the opposite hand and with confident movements, glue the napkin to the surface with a brush dipped in glue. We do not smear glue under the napkin, we glue a dry napkin with a brush dipped in glue. It is better to take a harsh brush, with short bristles.

Advice. If there is no glue for decoupage, then you can use acrylic varnish instead. And, of course, do not forget that the napkin is three-layered, and we glue only one layer - colorful!

We go through the edges with contrasting paint to give the box a “worn”, aged look. Again, make sure that the sponge is not very wet, so as not to leave greasy blots.

Step 5 We fix the result with acrylic varnish in several layers.

How many layers to do? If the box is used carefully, then two layers will suffice, but to be sure that the item will last for a long time, it is better not to regret 5-8 layers.

Acrylic lacquer is different, if you want shine, then get a glossy one, if your work is vintage, aged, then there is nothing for it to shine, matte varnish is useful to you.

Advice. After drying each layer, check how tightly the lid of the box closes, do not overdo it with varnish! If you feel that the lid closes with difficulty, you should finish varnishing.

Step 6 We fantasize. If the box is on a marine theme, then you can stick a coarse rope braided with some intricate pattern on the lid. Glue real shells on the sides.

If the box is flower themed, then you can make something from a satin ribbon or glue beautiful lace on the sides. Inside, if desired, you can make a separator into several compartments. It is made from two cardboard strips, one strip along the width of the box, the second along the length, they are combined with each other crosswise (we make an incision on each strip to match) and insert it into the box.

The inside of the box can either be painted or pasted over with napkins or felt. It will be interesting to look if the inside is pasted over with old newspapers, but again, the inside should “sing in unison” with the exterior design, remember about “ships and roses”.

Here is our work!

Each of us has that same magical creativity at our fingertips, which just needs to be given freedom and the right direction, and then the flowers will come to life on the Parisian boulevard, Queen Elizabeth will mysteriously smile and the teddy bear will run after the kite. But it's just a cardboard box! Good luck with your magic.

Dear readers! Do you have any other ideas for using shoeboxes at home?We are waiting for your answers in the comments!

We often neglect decor in favor of functionality. Tell me, if you decide what to do today - knit a panama hat for a child for the summer or make handmade tissue box what would you prefer? Perhaps the second project will seem more interesting and curious to you, however, children's clothes will still outweigh the scales, because the child, because it is more necessary, because it is more practical. And the beauty in the house ... well, sometime later, when all the hats are ready, all the skirts are sewn, all the trousers are repaired and all the patches are attached. Nevertheless, a tissue box is a completely functional thing that you will use regularly and daily. Yes, you can do without it. Yes, it's not essential. Yes, thousands of people use napkins directly, bypassing all kinds of coasters and boxes. So what? And you put things aside and do tissue box. Today. Now. To smile, rejoice and receive aesthetic pleasure.

DIY tissue box - 5 interesting projects:

1. Original crochet tissue box

Probably, every needlewoman who is “you” with a crochet can knit a napkin box with her own hands. The work is not difficult, the main thing is to catch the general principle, and things will go like clockwork. Well, another important point is to find your idea. Interesting, unique, original. The one that will resonate in your soul and make you put aside all your current projects and make a do-it-yourself tissue box right now.

2. DIY textile box for napkins

If crochet and needles aren't for you, try sewing a textile napkin box. There are also a lot of options for creativity, get inspired and embody your own. Maybe you like strict geometry? Floral motifs? Patchwork? Application? Cling firmly to your thought, and everything will work out for you in the best way.

3. Tissue Box for Kids - Cardboard Train

By the way, you can dream up for children. Arm yourself with scissors and colored cardboard - you can easily make a train, and an elephant with a trunk and ears, and a funny dachshund with short legs and a long tail, and cars-bears-ponies-houses-princesses. The main thing is to get an application from a small client, and then things will go well, you will also be grateful to the child for the creative impetus!

4. Textile "pocket" for disposable handkerchiefs

A cute accessory that you can give to a close friend is a textile "pocket" for disposable handkerchiefs. It will ideally fit into the space of a lady's bag, beautifully lie on the desktop, take its rightful place in the interior of the bedroom. A simple thing that is very unobtrusive and just uplifting.

Very often there are boxes that you don’t want to part with. And they lie until you come up with a use for them. So it is this time. The napkins have long ended, and the box will be thrown away, the hand did not rise. And good. Because it turned out to be a wonderful pencil stand in the New Year's style.

It's not difficult to make it. In addition to patience, you will need:
empty tissue box
white and red acrylic paints;
wide and thin brushes (soft);
glue brush (hard);
PVA glue;
napkin for decoupage;
scissors.

To begin with, it is necessary to tear off the core from the box, which did not let the napkins through. After it is better to wipe it from all sides with alcohol. This will remove grease and dust so that the paint covers the surface evenly. White paint must be opened on all six sides three times. In this case, each layer should dry well.

While the box is drying, you can prepare the drawings. The napkin is cut into the necessary parts and detached from the two lower layers. Having distributed the pattern over the box, you can start decoupage.

The pattern is placed on the surface and covered with glue on top. A stiff brush with artificial bristles is well suited for this. It is necessary to smear, moving the brush from the middle to the edges, so that there are no air bubbles under the pattern.

After drying, the work can be touched up with acrylic paints, sparkles. Also, the work can be opened with varnish so that it lasts longer.

Since this box was designed for pencils, I had to reduce its bottom. To do this, crumpled sheets of paper were placed inside, and a piece of synthetic winterizer was laid on top. So pencils will always be at hand, the box is in business, and its design will help decorate the room in the New Year's style.

In addition to pencils, you can store handkerchiefs, small toys, small balls of thread, candies and much more in such a box. The main thing is that there is such a box in the house, and everyone will decide what to put in it.
