Discussion of connecting to LG TVs using Intel WiDi technology

Intel Wireless Display (better known as WiDi) is a technology that provides connectivity mobile devices(laptop, ultrabook, tablet) to a smart TV (Smart TV). Based on the Wi-Fi standard, this technology allows you to play HD video (1080p) and surround sound (5.1) on compatible TVs/monitors. WITH using Wi-Fi Direct is a direct connection to the TV, without an intermediate router or access point. The data transfer rate is the same as a normal Wi-Fi connection. The standard will allow you to combine both two devices and several devices with each other. If your phone has Wi-Fi Direct, you can also use this technology to share content from your TV.

PC/laptop system requirements:

  • At least 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/7 processor, as well as some processors of the Atom and Celeron families.
  • Processor-integrated video adapter at least HD Graphics 2000 for laptops and HD Graphics 2500 for desktops.
  • A compatible WiFi adapter that supports Intel My WiFi Technology.
  • Any of OS Win 7/8/8.1/10 can be installed on the PC
To use the technology, laptop owners with hybrid graphics will have to switch to integrated graphics. In some models, the manufacturer disables the integrated video core, so WiDi will not work on it.

Follow the steps below to view PC/Laptop images on a TV screen:

  1. Press the Home button (with a house) on the remote control.
  2. Launch the Screen Share app.
  3. Launch Intel WiDi on the device you want to connect.
  4. The TV will appear in the list of available devices.
  5. Select the TV to be prompted to connect, and a message will appear on the TV screen asking you to enter an 8-digit PIN.
  6. Enter your PIN and select Connect.
  7. When the connection is established, the screen image of the connected device will appear on the TV screen.

  • For a reliable connection, we recommend that you always update the OS of the device you want to connect to the TV to the latest version.
  • When connecting Intel WiDi, it is recommended to place the device in close proximity to the TV.
  • Intel WiDi provides connectionless connectivity wireless router. For best quality operation, connect the device to a 5 GHz router.
  • This feature is only available on Intel WiDi-enabled PCs.
  • Supports connection standard Intel WiDi version 3.5.
  • Response speed may vary depending on usage conditions.
  • Differs from Windows versions. For more information about the device you want to connect, refer to the user manual of that device.
  • After launching the Screen Share app, turn on Listening Mode. The device can be connected without launching the Screen Share app.
  • The listening mode may affect the quality of wireless communication when connected to an access point. If you experience wireless quality problems, we recommend that you turn off Listening Mode.

  • If the connection is interrupted intermittently, turn off the TV and the device you want to connect to it, then turn them back on and try again.
